Early low-dose CT plus pulmonary angiography to improve the diagnosis of aspergillosis

Stanzani M et al. J Infect 2021; 83:371–380.

Mould pneumonia is a common complication of chemotherapy for hematological malignancies. Low-dose chest computed tomography (CT) detected abnormalities in 63% of patients within 48h of fever. One-quarter of infiltrates were amenable to CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) to assess the vessel occlusion sign (VOS).The VOS exhibited a high sensitivity and specificity for mould pneumonia.
